five reasons why 'planet of the dead' was actually pretty awesome: a picspam

i gather the dr who easter special copped a bit of flack. i get that there were one or two issues, but you know what? i thought it was actually pretty good. i would like to present my evidence in picspam* form...

5. a cool monster

these guys were really interesting. they were unusual, they were genuinely scary, and unlike most other alien races, they managed to escape genocide at the hand of the doctor, which is no mean feat.

4. ten at his adorable, kooky best

i'm making the most of ten, and noticing all the little things i love about him. it's good, and kind of comforting to see him doing all his elastic faces, and being all nutsy and heroic the way he is. i'll miss him next season!

3. christina

christina is my kind of girl. she knows how to operate a winch and she has an axe in her backpack. it's great to see someone who considers themselves the doctor's equal working with him. i was pulling for her to join him and be the next companion - even if it's only for the rest of ten's run.

2. the chemistry between ten and christina

it worked. there was no mooning or pining. there was no drama or labored innuendo. they just made a great team. i think that was down to christina's character as much as anything else. i ship it.

1. malcom

malcom! adorable, lovable, fanboy! he topped the whole thing off for me. he has GOT to be a companion to 11. he's brilliant. i have nothing but love and squee for this guy :)

*five 900x500 images, so it shouldn't kill dialuppers ♥

I thought the Easter spacial was fantastic! My favourite "episode" besides the Reinette Poisson and William Shakespeare ones. ♥ Neither Rose nor Donne have ever appealed to me - shoot me if you like ;) - but Lady Christina was a perfect companion. The monsters were beautiful! Seriously, the main reason why I dislike sci-fi so much are the ugly monsters and aliens. If all of them were as pretty as these, I would enjoy sci-fi so much more. :)

I loved the episode more than most recently (am not really a Donna fan). And thanks for the cool photos - I'd put them up on my desk at work but then everyone would either make fun of me for being a geek, or make fun of me for not being as much of a geek as them.

Hahaha, gorgeous picspam. I want to say you've converted me but I didn't hate it entirely to begin with. I certainly appreciate some of the episode's finer points a bit more now. :D

Christina was awesome and proved it over and over again. Plus: swishy hair. A+

Malcom has to come back later on one way or another please!

I sometimes forget how crazy the Doctor would appear until we see him hop onto a bus in the middle of London and start offering chocolate egg around.

I have to agree with you on your list!

Malcolm was definitely the best part of PotD. :-D

I didn't realize how much pretty there was in this episode! Awesome picspam. :D
Malcolm FTW! His accent too. :D And fan reaction (well, that I've seen anyway) has been so strong that maybe there's actually a chance of getting him back.
And LOL at the Many Faces of Ten!

TOTALLY agree with everything, especially Christina (who, unlike everyone else, I thought was AWESOME :D) and MALCOLM!!! :) :)

And awesome picspam :):)

Welll ....

Well -- not *immediate* genocide, at least. He did say he was going to redirect their wormhole to an uninhabited planet -- where surely they'd starve to death, yeah?

Malcolm is my homeboy. I love him to bits, and wish to hug him, lol

LOL! Malcolm was FANTASTIC! My absolute favorite thing in the episode! XD
"OMG YOU'RE MY BEST FRIEND TOO DOCTOR!!!!!"
"ILU DOCTOR! ILUUUUU" Oh man, he was fanboying so hard over the Doctor it was HILARIOUS!

Something I really liked about the swarm was that it was tricky to judge their size - at first, I thought they were fairly small, but we start to see just how huge they are. It was as though, through the story, they just got bigger and BIGGER. (I also rather liked that they could be brought down with conventional weapons, just for a change. :)

I want the Captain Magambo and Malcolm Adventures! Failing that, perhaps Malcolm and Wilf could form a sort of Dad's Torchwood or something.

I'm all for Malcolm being 11's companion! :D Because we all love Malcolm so much he NEEDS to come back again.

Ah ha ha ha ha ha! Yes, this. Love your picspam and concur with your conclusions.
